Introducing our Copeland Mai Tai, crafted with our award-winning Smugglers’ Reserve Rum. A tropical classic, this refreshing cocktail combines smooth rum with orange curaçao, fresh lime juice and orgeat syrup to create the perfect balance of citrus, sweetness and warming spice.
Inspired by the smugglers who operated around the Copeland Islands during the 18th and 19th centuries, Smugglers’ Reserve pays tribute to the adventurous spirit that brought new flavours to the County Down coastline. Crafted from a blend of dark rum from Barbados and our own light rum, distilled at The Copeland Distillery in Donaghadee, it offers the best of both worlds. The Barbadian rum is matured in Kentucky bourbon barrels, while our Copeland rum is aged in a combination of quarter bourbon casks and French Pinot Noir wine barrels. The two are then expertly married together, creating a beautifully smooth, well-balanced rum with layers of warming spice, gingerbread and banana bread. Bottled at 40% ABV, its rich spice, gentle sweetness and smooth finish make it the ideal foundation for a perfectly balanced Mai Tai.
Try the Copeland Mai Tai for yourself. All you need is 60ml of Smugglers’ Reserve Rum, 22.5ml fresh lime juice, 15ml orange curaçao, 7.5ml orgeat syrup and 7.5ml demerara syrup. Add everything to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake. Pour into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice, garnish with a lime and fresh mint, then sit back and enjoy!
