Smugglers’ Reserve Rum
A blend of dark rum from Barbados and light rum distilled in The Copeland Distillery, Donaghadee. The Barbados rum has been aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels and the Copeland rum aged in a mixture of French Pinot Noir wine and Quarter Bourbon casks.
Copeland Smugglers’ Reserve is inspired by the clandestine activities that took place along the Copeland Islands throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and gives honour to the contrabandists that brought tastes of new worlds to County Down’s shores.
We marry Barbadian heavily flavoured pot-still rum with Copeland distilled rum, and let it mature peacefully in Donaghadee in American bourbon first-fill barrels and Pinot Noir barrels. It is then blended at a ratio of 90:10 bourbon to Pinot Noir, creating a superior, smooth rum bottled at 40% ABV.
Bordeaux Grand Cru Rum
The limited edition Grand Cru Bordeaux Rum is a blend of three-to-five year old dark rum from Barbados and double distilled rum produced in the Copeland Distillery. After a 336 hour fermentation, the spirit passes through our copper pot stills; Betty a 600l wash still and Hessie, our 500l spirit still, before a precise cut is made to the heads (the first part of the alcohol which is collected). This ensures the best possible taste and balance.
Our carefully selected Barbados rum has been aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels, with our own Copeland rum aged in Quarter bourbon casks. After 8 months in these heavy, first fill American oak casks, we transfer the spirit into 8 Premier One, French Grand Cru casks to finish the rum for a period of 4 months. With these casks having held some of Bordeaux’s most prestigious wines of 2020, the flavour profiles are robust and full.

Returns
If you’d like to return or exchange an item, please let us know within 14 days of receiving your order and return it within a further 14 days. Returned bottles must be unopened and merchandise must be clean and unworn; once we receive the item, we’ll process your refund or exchange within 14 days. If an exchange item is unavailable, we’ll issue a full refund instead. Thank you for your understanding and support!
